Bexhill back on the rise

Bexhill emphatically got back to winnings ways in Division Two of the Sussex Cricket League on Saturday.

Chris Topp's fifth-placed side romped home by 125 runs against bottom-of-the-table St James's Montefiore at The Polegrove.

Bexhill rattled up 238-7 after being invited to bat, 93 of which came from the hard-hitting Richard May off only 74 balls.

St James's never recovered from slumping to 14-2 in reply and were eventually bowled out for 113 in 33.5 overs with Ian Ellis taking 4-39.

Sixth-placed Sidley were unable to build on another decent batting display as they were beaten at home to Chichester Priory Park in the same division.

Scott Woodroffe's charges made 224 after winning the toss, Peter King leading the way with 92 in the middle order.

But third-placed Chichester reached their target in a mere 37.1 overs largely thanks to an opening stand of 176 between Daniel Oliver (74) and Mark Bamford (125 not out).
