Bexhill crash in the cup

BEXHILL Town acquitted themselves well on Saturday against a side that had beaten them 5-0 earlier in the season.

However the green machine still lost 3-2 against Steyning Town in the Division Three Cup - a defeat which also ended possibly their best chance of picking up any silverware.

Rob Warner drew first blood for the home side with a left foot drive from 20 yards.

The visitors drew level when Spry s goal was allowed to stand despite the linesman flagging for offside.

Goalkeeper Adam Taylor prevented the visitors taking a half-time lead with a fine penalty save only for club chairman Del Longley to score an unfortunate own goal soon after the restart.

The visitors went two ahead with Lester scoring from close range.

Caretaker manager Mark Simpson was then uprooted in the area and Rob Warner converted the spot-kick.
