Big names in the frame for Goodwood's celebrity ladies' race

The lady jockeys, racing in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital, will include Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox, top model Edie Campbell, polo player Clare Milford Haven, Channel 4 presenter Emma Spencer, Tatler editor Kate Reardon, Annette Mason, racing driver and wife of Pink Floyd drummer Nick, and dressage champion Laura Bectolsheimer.

The ladies will be turned out in special racing silks created by famous fashion designers; Amanda Wakeley, Jasmine Guinness and the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite Issa.

The back-up team working with the celebrity lady jockeys as trainers, supporters and, on the day of the race, grooms, will include model Elizabeth Hurley, TV’s Kate Silverton and Natalie Pinkham, wife of Andrew Lloyd Webber and successful racehorse owner Madeleine Lloyd Webber, Channel 4 presenter Alice Plunkett, skiing champion Chemmy Alcott and Financial Times Weekend editor Caroline Daniel.

Renowned and long-standing fine jewellers, Garrard, are kindly making the fabulous gold and silver trophy, The Magnolia Cup, which will be presented to the victor in Goodwood’s winner’s enclosure.

The Celebrity Ladies’ Race, sponsored by Audi, is due off at 1.55pm on Thursday, July 28, Ladies Day.

Great Ormond Street will benefit from donations from spectators on the day as well as proceeds from a glamorous Race Week ball, which will be held in Goodwood House on Wednesday, July 27.

All jockeys, designers and supporters are giving their time free of charge.

General admission prices to Glorious Goodwood start from £15 for entry into the Lennox Enclosure and £37 into the Gordon Enclosure. Entry badges can be booked online at www.goodwood.co.uk
