Blades overpower Horsham Spinners

Blades A trio Josh Bennett, George Hazell and Tony Catt overcame the Horsham Spinners A side 7-2 with comparative ease.

Facing up to Spinners’ Adam Laws, Mark Burman and Rory Scott, the Blades trio really turned on the gas, with both Bennett and Hazell scoring classy maximums.

Bennett took out both Laws and Marc Burman 3-0. Scott managed to get an end from both of them before going down to the determined Tony Catt 9-11 in the fifth. Hazell was too strong for Burman, chalking up a good 11-5, 11-8, 11-5 win.

Crawley’s Paul Carter swept all players away 3-0 but the two Johns (Calcutt and Hook) didn’t find it as easy. Calcutt is struggling with his sight recently lost two in four and then 9 in the 5th to Dave Steel. John Hook beat Phil Nichols in four. Well played to Foresters E with Dave Steel and Johnny Clarke both winning two and Phil Nichols one.

Crawley Sports A beat higher placed rivals Crawley Community B 6-3. John Robinson back to fitness proved too strong for the opposition, so true to form won his three matches all 3-0.

Graham Beaney from Crawley Sports picked up two, just losing to Graham Green. Joe Comper’s matches all went to four beating Andy Meads but losing to Graham Green and Sai Man Yau.

Horsham A showed their B team their class, After an upset in the first half of the season, Horsham A (Chris Vincent Graham Barnes and Stephen Hoad) asserted their position beating their B team 8-1.

Graham Barnes who was injured in the first half clash, was man of the match this time round. The B team’s Holly Holder who played well all night, showed her fighting spirit battling to beat Chris Vincent 11-13 in the fifth which was the only point that the B team could take.
