Past men’s champion Steve Porter returned to regain his crown and his ten-year-old son George won the handicap competition.

Porter jnr’s entry was allowed as there was no junior competition and, making the most of a generous handicap, he triumphed in the final beating Gail Cuthbert 2-0.

The men’s final was between two of the most successful players in the club’s recent history with multiple titles between them, Steve Porter and Glenn Peskett.

A rejuvenated Porter came out on top 3-1 to regain the trophy he last won in 2011. Peskett did not go home empty-handed as he had earlier won the racketball title, beating Rod Everett in the final.

Peskett also took the doubles racketball title with Paul Glithero when they defeated Steve Darlington and Greg Jansz in a fast and furious match.

Darlington and Rod Everett combined to win the mens’ squash doubles against Ken Norman and Ian Stroud and Darlington also won the veterans’ competition beating Ken Norman in the final.
