Bognor boxer goes to town in Camden

Fenn rushed out and had the Riley’s Gym fighter on the floor with a barrage of punches which ended with a big right sending Geikins down to the canvas.

But Geikins showed great heart immediately by coming back with a counter left hook which put Fenn down, forcing him to take the eight count looking very unsteady on his feet.

The second round was similarly explosive as both fighters went on the offensive, Geikins catching Fenn with another big left hook which left Fenn being held up by the ropes.

The referee gave Fenn every opportunity to extend his three-fight unbeaten stretch to four. But soon Geikins caught Fenn with a booming left hand clean on the chin, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

The paramedics were immediately on hand with oxygen but it took Fenn a few minutes to recover.

Geikins said: “I didn’t want to leave the decision to the judges and I’ve been working on that shot with my coach Faz Chitima and on the night all the hard work paid off.

“It has been a great lift for me and all the other boys I train alongside in the gym.”

Also in action was Bognor’s Lawrence Bennett, who took his unbeaten tally up to three wins from three with a victory over Junior Millar.

Bennett floored th 6ft 7in first-timer with a right hand in the second round, which resulted in Millar looking for a way out and turning the fight into something of a wrestling match until the referee’s patience ran out and he gave the Bennett a stoppage victory.
