The event at Westgate Leisure was run by the Rotary Club of Chichester Priory in conjunction with St Gerards and resulted in numerous community groups picking up cheques.

The kit acquired by St Gerards includes a new extra heavyweight monster punch-bag with associated chain holdings, headguards, abdominal protectors, sparring gloves, skipping ropes, bandages, mouthguards, vests and shorts for competition.

Coach Gerry Lavelle said: “These items are all very much needed and appreciated. Our club rent, insurances and associated licenses for coaches and boxers are also secure for another year.”

Two of the Swanfield Drive club’s youngest boxers - Phoebe Hounsome and David Martyn - were the first to test out the new equipment.
