CHICHESTER'S Billy Valentine Lavelle makes his long-awaited professional boxing debut on Saturday, October 8.

After a series of injuries meant he had to pull out of his original debut date, he is now back to full fighting fitness and raring to go.

The aspiring youngster will be boxing at lightweight against Dan Carr from Trowbridge - a veteran in comparison to Lavelle with 18 contests already under his belt.

Coaches Ash Sutherland and Gareth Ferguson said Lavelle’s preparation was going well without any hiccups.

He’s into week three of a 12-week training camp which will end with a week in Tenerife at the TKO boxing gym 8,000ft above sea level. He will finish off at the VK Gym in Bognor, where he trains five days a week.

Coach Jon Mills said his padwork and sparring were awesome and his cardio training saw him get many miles of speedwork his belt.
