Impressive wins for Horsham Boxing Club duo

Two of Horsham Amateur Boxing Club’s leading talents shone at the Adur show last week, while another rolled-back the years.

Light-welterweight Tom Tennant gave the Horsham club a fine start, with his fourth win from his first four bouts, taking a points decision against 20-year-old Brighton University fighter Richard Keating.

Jack Aitchenson then followed that up with an impressive defeat of the vastly experienced Justin Vincent, from the host club. Aitchenson, in his ninth appearance for Horsham, won a majority points verdict against Vincent, a veteran of 45 bouts.

Coach Dan Purchase said: “We would never normally match it like that. It was a great performance against someone far more experienced than him.”

And then 34-year-old middleweight Simon Hopkins, who has been a Horsham ABC member for 23 years, returned to the ring after a six year absence and narrowly to 21-year-Ben Butler - who is due to turn professional - on a points decision.
