Jenman’s all set for next fight

WORTHING boxer Lee Jenman says his biggest fan is dreading his fight at Hove Town Hall on Saturday night.

Jenman, 28, has sold plenty of tickets for the show – and his biggest fan, mother Denise, will be there.

He said: “Mum comes to all my fights and she hates every second of it. She watches me box through her fingers and takes every punch. It’s not a lot of fun for her.”

Jenman says his mother was convinced he would have a short ring career. He said: “I was a weak kid. Mum thought I would be finished with boxing as soon as someone hit me on the nose. But I loved it.”

Jenman was a top amateur – he won silver at the Junior Olympics – and an explosive puncher. His amateur record shows 26 inside-the-distance wins and a quickest win in just 15 seconds.

Jenman has had back-to-back points win and says he is ready to turn on the power in Hove.

He said: “I knew when I turned professional that it would take me a couple of fights to shake off the ring rust and now I want to step things up and start stopping my opponents.”

Jenman has been matched with Joe Walsh this weekend and Jenman said: “I know what to expect. He will be right in front of me throwing shots and that suits me.

“I’m hoping to win inside the distance.”

Ben Jones tops the bill at Hove Town Hall and tickets are available from 07875 688545.
