Sime through to national semis

A West Hill boxer is through to the semi-finals of a national competition.

Conner Sime received a walkover into the last four of the CYP Championships following the surprise pullout of his opponent, three-time national champion Ellis Delaney, of West Ham ABC.

Sime made the weight with ease only go be told just before the scales closed that Delaney wasn’t coming. He will now face last year’s Junior ABA Champion, Jack Stringer, of the Southampton-based Golden Ring ABC, in Wales on Saturday November 24.

Sime lost a tight majority decision last time they boxed, which was at last year’s Junior ABA Championships, a competition Stringer went on to win. West Hill matchmaker John Verlander said: “We fancy an upset this year. Conner is looking strong and very sharp in the gym.”

Sime will perform on West Hill’s very own dinner show in the Montgomery Suite at Bannetynes Health Club today (Saturday).

Doors open at 7.30pm for standing spectators. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Twelve bouts are scheduled and West Hill expect an action-packed night of amateur boxing.
