Sportiv8 students are easy to motiv8 in Bognor

Five students have completed the Sportiv8 programme in Bognor.

Adam Charles, Karl Holmes, Fraser Miller, Sam Burgess and Liam Watts are now awaiting results in a range of subjects, including sport, employability and English writing, reading, speaking and listening.

Organisers are now recruiting for Bognor’s next Sportiv8 course.

These run for 20-30 weeks for 16 hours a week and are designed to assist youngsters aged 16 to 18 develop skills and prepare for work.

The courses help build confidence, encourage interaction with fellow students and tutors and develop interview skills and techniques. Sport activities available on the course in Bognor are boxing and football.

The courses are run by two tutors, who are also boxing tutors, one a full Amateur Boxing Association coach.

The GB National Boxing Awards programme will be part of the course where students can gain a nationally-recognised qualification in boxing. For more, visit www.boxingawards.co.uk.

Assignments for the NVQ in sport and Level 1 certificate in sport will be based around boxing or football.

Course bosses are talking to schools in the area about running a boxing educational programme for 14-16s.

They will hold an open day, including ‘try boxing’ sessions, on Monday, July 4, from midday to 6pm at VK Gym, Durban Road, Bognor. Teachers, parents and anyone aged 14-24 are welcome.

The courses are run from VK Gym, which has the equipment needed for boxing including weights, cardiovascular machines and a classroom facility at our disposal.
