Young Bognor boxers show their skills

FOURTEEN students achieved a pass in the GB National Boxing Awards programme at Bognor.

Four came through the standard award level, having previously achieved the preliminary award, and another ten passed the preliminary level.

The award scheme is a fun, recreational boxing-based programme for five to ten-year-old boys and girls. It consists of preliminary, standard, bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards.

Students learn to warm up, stretch, skip, boxing skills and techniques, games and the rules of amateur boxing with the emphasis on having fun.

Students receive a certificate and a medal on completion of each award. Coach Mark Hibbert said: “Congratulations go to Tyler Lemm, Alex Smith, Riley Hall and Kane Doe for achieving the standard award, and Leon Schneider, Jack Buck, Felix Cook, Harley Schneider, Harry Dobinson, Olivia Irving, Hayden Thompson, Finlay Powell, Sonny Grant and Macy Hibbert for achieving the preliminary award.”

The next awards start on Sunday, June 5, with a new preliminary class at 11am, the bronze award at midday and the standard award from 1pm, at VK Gym, Durban Road, Bognor.
