In perfect conditions there were some superb performances in the huge club contingent of over 50 runners that took part, with around 20 achieving new personal bests for the distance.

This race forms part of the BHR Club Championship which adds some spice to the event, and near the head of the field there was a real battle for club honours with Paul Sargent (37 mins 14 secs), Neil Grigg (37.17) and James Collins (37.19) finishing within three seconds of each other. Other notable performances amongst the plethora of personal bests included a superb return to competitive running after a long injury lay-off for Jonathan Lelliott, finishing in 15th place in the M50 category in 38.50, Jan Lavis securing 16th place in the F45 category and a huge PB in 42.27, the ever-improving Martin Skeats taking 18th place in the M60 category, also in a new PB of 44.53 and Gill Berglund finishing 19th in the F55 category with 53.59. There were also big PBs for Jason Wadey (almost 4 mins in 46.48), Victoria Newman (also 4 minutes in 50.38), Claire Tucknott (an enormous 9 minutes in 51.40), Marie Carey (4 minutes in 52.06) and Jenny Nicholl (over 6 mins in 59.50). As the club goes from strength to strength, new members are always welcome with all abilities catered for including complete beginners. Go to www.bhrunners.co.uk for details.
