Burgess Hill's Black Widows put in a very impressive performance

As the Black Widows prepared for their matched against Old Dartfordians, they talked about having belief in themselves to play the fearless style of rugby they knew they were capable of.

The team talk worked well, Black Widows kicked off and immediately turned the ball over, which was passed out to winger Ghislaine Moolenaar who cut through the defence to score after 36 seconds.

The next try came after six mins, Louise Blunt taking the ball blind from a scrum and drawing the defence before offloading to Jas Spalding, who showed her speed to round the defender and score.

Two mins later, the two combined again as Bramley scored after another Weller break, Weller then added the extras. Tanith Goodenough and Louise Skelhorn were leading the charge for the forwards with dominant displays in attack and defence.

From a quick penalty, the ball was passed to forward Phoebe Hurrell who powered over from short range.

With 25 mins gone, Weller added a try to her tally, also slotting the conversion.

From the lineout, forward Hannah Fosbraey, plucked the ball from the air, the ball was spun down the line where Ghislaine found space to score, Weller adding the conversion.

The resulting kick off was collected by Hannah, who powered up field, offloading to Ghislaine who stepped her opposite player to run in from the halfway line, Jenny again with the extras.

As the second half began, Old Dartfordians looked to exert some pressure with strong running and fearless tackling, a clearance from Weller was knocked on by Dartfordians, from the scrum Louise Blunt out passed the defence to score.

The Widows continued to tackle hard, keeping the opposition on the backfoot, and taking their opportunities well, resulting in another 2 tries in quick succession from Jas, captain Weller finding great form from the tee.

Next to cross the whitewash was Bramley, securing her hat trick after some fine link play from the backs.

With the score mounting, full credit must be given to Old Dartfordians who played with pride, never letting their heads drop as they camped out on the Widows try line, kept out by heroic tackling from Diana Anderson, Shelley Barnes and forward of the match Sally Hubbard.

The last word of the game went to the Widows with great hands setting Ella Hubbard free outpacing her opposite number to score in the corner, final score 84-0.
