Cards aplenty in Wick's home loss

TWO OF the traditions of Christmas are the observance of goodwill to all men and the giving of cards.

While the former was in scarce supply on Saturday, the latter was seen in abundance as referee Colin Mallows became the centre of attention in Wick's defeat to Crowborough.

The game stated at a frantic pace with receipt of the ball seeming as welcome as socks from Grandma, as both sides struggled to keep meaningful possession. The greasy conditions did not help flowing football and hackles were soon rising as tackles and verbals flew.

Mr Mallows had already lectured Crowborough's Danny Baker for dissent before Wick's Julian Curnow was booked for pulling back Ross Treleaven. Crows' Dave Adams (tackle) and Phil Rhodes (dissent) then saw yellow in the same incident before Ian Meek was cautioned for a late tackle on Wick's Paul Williams.
