Carter's two-thirds of the way to a clean sweep in Chichester

The City of Portsmouth AC star made it two wins from two when the series’ second races were held on Wednesday night, finishing in 13min 45sec - 13 seconds slower than in the opener.

He was comfortably clear of Baker, but the Chichester Runners ace, who is recovering from shin splints, still finished in under 14 minutes.

That’s the 26th consecutive Corporate Challenge race in which Baker has been in the top two.

Third was another Chichester athlete, teenage traithlon expert Dan Bailey.

It was another well-attended night in the city centre with many of those who propsered in the first races doing so again.

There was a new name at the head of the primary schoolboys’ race, with Central School’s William Broom - fifth a fortnight ago - storming home first, ahead of first-race winner Josh Eeles from Midhurst Primary. Marcus Davies (Plaistow & Kirdford) was third.

Maisie Grice (Uplands) took the primary girls’ honours ahead of Bethany Lewis (St Mary’s) and Anna Hains (Central).

There was an identical 1-2-3 in the secondary girls’ race, with Georgina Warner (CHSG) beating India Spoor (Durrington) and Hannah Croad (Manhood) into second and third.

James McKenzie (Felpham CC) and Harry Leleu (Seaford College) were again the top Year 10 and Year 9 boys - by some distance - while the Year7/8 boys’ race also had the same top three as last time with Edward Gerwat (Bishop Luffa) first, Harry Lyne (Felpham CC) and Casey Keates (Felpham CC) passing the post in that order.

The final race night of the 2011 series is on Wednesday, March 30.
