Charity helps abused and sick donkeys

ORMER Sussex air stewardess Lucy Fenton is continuing to play a vital part in rescuing and helping donkeys in Israel through her charity, Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land, known as SHADH.

On visits to Israel and Palestine Lucy had become so involved in donkey welfare, having witnessed cruelty and neglect, that 10 years ago she left the airline to follow her dedication full time.

She now lives 30 miles northeast of Tel Aviv where around 120 donkeys, originally in a pitiable condition, are now healthy, well-fed and happy at her base. Lucy also runs a mobile donkey clinic trying to help and educate donkey owners in Israel.
