That’s after again let slip the lead to go down 2-1 away at Tooting & Mitcham on Tuesday night.

Horsham have won only one of their last nine league games and speaking about the mid-week defeat, Charman - who put them ahead with a trademark header - said: “Our first half was decent although it was poor conditions as the wind was against us in the first half and it was difficult to get out of our own half. The wind dropped in the second half - but that’s football.

“There’s no consistency. As a group we were poor - we kept giving the ball away. As individuals some of us played very well like Ryan Marriott, Lewis Hamilton and Tom Graves.”

Charman among a number of injury worries ahead of Saturday’s home game against Crawley Down, having limped off with an injured knee.

Goalkeeper Michael Hunter will miss the next three weeks with a wrist injury so newboy Dave King, who impressed at Tooting, will continue between the sticks.

Scott Harris will be back from serving a one-match suspension, though both Jahmahl King and Ryan Marriott are still suspended, while midfielder Byron Napper is out long-term and is currently on crutches with a haematoma on his thigh.

Charman would like to see the side take a full six points from their next two games at home to Crawley Down Gatwick and Ramsgate.

He said: “We are looking for a reaction. They are both winnable games. We have to look at winning all our home games. We are looking at six points and need to cement our position in midtable.

“I am not saying we are in a rut, but we just need to knock it on the head as soon as possible.”
