Chertsey 1 - Lewes 4

LEWES moved up to fourth place in the Ryman League Division Two and maintained their unbeaten record courtesy of Tuesday night s win at bottom of the table Chertsey.

Dominic Shepherd opened the scoring with a 23rd minute penalty after he himself had been upended by Lee Taylor.

Just before the hour mark the Rooks doubled their lead when Peter Brackley s magnificent 40-yard strike caught keeper Paul Seuker off his line.

But Chertsey threatened to spoil the party when, on 70 minutes, John Pomrey converted a penalty needlessly conceded by Marc Cable.

However, Brackley s cross was turned into his own net by Simon Langley five minutes later to restore the two-goal cushion, and Brackley himself completed the scoring with a low drive in the dying minutes.

Most of the directors came to watch and for the first time this season they were really impressed with Brackley, his quick feet and his pace, said Lewes assistant manager, Billy Nixon.

We re winning games 4-1 at the moment which we should be winning 7-0; we must have hit the post three times.

The referee was awful again, and the burgers were terrible!
