Chichester aren't too keen on Milton trip

Chichester’s tendency in the past few games has been to start the game slowly and this game seemed to be no different.

They looked tense and careless in possession, which enabled MK to feel their way into it and start to dominate.

MK got the opener when a wasteful pass from Jack Lerwill was intercepted from an MK forward - once again Chichester had conceded the first of the game.

The only plus point for Chichester was the fact Luke Matthews was playing his best game in a Chichester shirt and Richard Aves, playing his first game for the firsts, also did well.

Chichester levelled when Matt Cox showed sensational skill to win a penalty corner. Up stepped Gerald Cox to drag-flick the ball into the bottom corner.

Five minutes into the second half, MK were again ahead after Chichester seemed to let MK walk into the D and pass the ball around the keeper.

Chichester got a few passes together and create a few half-chances but nothing seemed to work.

Their day was summed up when MK made it 3-1 through some comedy defending.

Now Chichester must bounce back strongly against top-of-the-league Teddington this week.

Chichester started well against second-placed Basingstoke, passing the ball smartly across midfield.

Firkins’ distribution found runners off the ball penetrating the Basingstoke defence.

Midway through the half Cox found space wide on the left and her strong reverse-stick shot beat the keeper on the ground at the near post.

Chichester could not extend their lead before half-time.

Basingstoke responded well after the interval and their midfield were increasingly influential.

They forced a series of penalty corners, eventually converting one of their chances, with a rasping shot dipping into the goal.

Chichester’s heads dropped after the equaliser but they shared the points with a stronger Basingstoke side.

They play at home this weekend against Spencer.
