Chichester can't Pul much-needed victory out the hat

Pulborough won the toss and somewhat surprisingly elected to bat on a surface notorious for producing relatively-low scores.

However, despite the early loss of opener Philip Roper to Richard Logan (1-47), Chichester were unable to capitalise as Rohit Jagota scored freely on his way to 86 off 90 balls with support from Tom Crump (53no).

Jogata hit his own wicket, but Crump’s partners kept up the scoring rate which enabled the home side to declare at 230 for four from 56 overs.

At the halfway stage Pulborough appeared to have the upper hand as Chichester had little chance of chasing such a score on a deteriorating wicket.

The visiting side made slow progress, with wickets lost at regular intervals and it was left to Mark Bamford and Matt Gregory (62no) to bat out for the draw, which they did successfully as Chichester closed on 130 for six.

Jogata and Harvir Baidwan took two wickets each for the home side.

Chichester travel to East Grinstead on Saturday and must play much better in all departments if they are to secure a much-needed victory.
