Chichester fencing ace takes three titles in one

Chichester Fencing Club's Toby Lee fenced brilliantly at the Sussex Men's Foil Championships in Portslade.

Despite being only 17 and competing in an adult championship, he made his way through the field until he reached the final, where he really let his beautiful technique and footwork do the talking for him.

There was only ever going to be one winner and not only did Lee win the senior Sussex Foil Championships, he also won the under-18 and under-20 cups as well, a very nice trophy haul and a richly-deserved one.

Eileen Pitman, secretary of the Sussex County Fencing Union, said: “Toby fenced with beautiful style and was a sheer pleasure to watch.”

Chichester head coach Sharon Blackman said: “Toby has beautiful technique and epitomises the dedication and hard work necessary for any sportsperson to reach the summit of their given sport. This is very well-deserved for his efforts.”
