CLUB ALL SET FOR HIGHDOWN HIKE

WORTHING Striders are preparing to host the Highdown Hike, a cross-country race using chalk farm tracks, on Wednesday, August 1 at 7.30pm.

The event is part of the West Sussex Fun Run League, which comprises 17 clubs from all over the county. Each club hosts its own race and some will attract a field of up to 500 runners.

Last year, the Highdown Hike attracted 350 entries. Worthing Striders joined the league in 2000 and the first hike was run that year and every year since.

The course is run over two laps of Highdown Hill, covering four-and-a-half miles and is best described as 'challenging', with an uphill start and an uphill finish. This year a prostate cancer charity will benefit.
