Club qualifies for show with outstanding success

WEST Sussex Riding Club has had outstanding success with members qualifying to ride at Royal Windsor Horse Show this year.

Normally, riding clubs do not have the chance to compete at this prestigious event, and this was the first year there had been an opportunity.

The club really stepped up to the mark at the area qualifer held recently at Sands Farm, Horsham. It was lucky enough to have riders competing in the two qualifying sections '“ a riding test and/or show jumping.

The sections were split in to junior and senior sections and all riders did the club proud. The day started off with the show jumping, with novice and the intermediate classes.

Novice class fences ranged from 2'0" '“ 2'9" and a joker fence at 3'0". The intermediate followed with fences from 2'6" '“ 3'3", with the joker fence standing at 3'6" '“ 3'9".

The two juniors Chelsea Jelley and Amy Sheen were first and second respectively in the novice class. Five seniors competed in the novice class where Cordelia Johnson-Gilbert won after an exciting round and all the other riders were placed.
