Cocktails shake up Flames

Top-of-the-table Fishbourne Flames were narrowly beaten 32-25 on the netball court by the recently-relegated Cocktails.

It was a hotly-contested match with both sides showing commitment and desire.

Cocktails took an early lead in the first quarter but Flames fought back and, towards the end of the second quarter, looked dominant with a great run of goals.

Angela Ruscoe and Kylee Adams intercepted well on the wings and facilitated movement of the ball up the court.

Cocktails’ goal attack and centre were very impressive and consistently took advantage of half-chances that came their way.

Christine Huggett strove valiantly to reduce the flow of goals and was ably assisted by Caroline Eames, whose dogged determination is an asset to the team.

At the other end, there was tight play in the Flames’ goal circle with Catherine Hutchin and Laura Maddicks passing the ball out well to ensure good positioning to score.

The final quarter was evenly matched but the earlier dominance of Cocktails ensured victory.

FLAMES: Huggett, Eames, Maddicks, Hutchin, Charles, Harding, Ruscoe, Leeming.
