Cool Cooper leaves ski rivals in the cold

The Alpine ski racing season got off to a tremendous start for Chichester's Yasmin Cooper.

First stop was Les Houches, France, for the Anglo Scottish Cup. The British children’s ski team member had been training with the British Ski Academy in Les Houches and was looking forward to race one.

It was a slalom and Yasmin had the quickest time after the first run and finished as second girl, missing first place by 0.03 of a second but taking first place in her age group. Next day was the giant slalom and Yasmin took second place in her age group.

Then it was on to the BARSC races in Champoluc, Italy. Yasmin, sponsored by Snow and Rock, took third in her age group for the giant slalom, but it was on the final day of the week’s racing that Yasmin proved her determination and technical ability, finishing as top overall girl.

It’s now back to Les Houches with the BSA where she will continue her ski training and academic programme with the support of her school, Chichester High School For Girls.

The next stop for Yasmin, who is also backed by ski manufacturer Salomon, is at the Welsh Championships in Champery, Switzerland.

Then it’s back to home and school before flying out to Slovenia to represent her country with the British children’s ski team.
