County League football news - who's gone where?

WICK Football Club have signalled their title hopes for the upcoming County League Division 1 season with 12 new faces joining the club.

New joint-boss Mick Catlin, who was manager at Chichester last season, has brought with him defender Paul Jones, midfielder Neil Murfin, striker Scott Murfin, defender Russell Hardwell, goalkeeper Anthony Ender and sweeper Ben Buckland.

Striker Dominic Shepherd, player-manager at Southwick last season, has also signed, as have midfielders Nick Green and Neil Harris, who played under him at Wickers last year.

Defender Clay Lamont has come in from Burgess Hill and midfielder Gareth Green from Whitehawk.

Goalkeeper Dave Leaver, who was at Worthing last year, has also signed.

Players staying from last year's squad include Ben Torode, Tom Manton, Dave Sharman, Gary Young, Steve Phillips, Phil Turner and Asa Nicholson.

ARUNDEL have welcomed two of their former players back to the club.

Chris Hibberd, after a season and a half at Shoreham, has returned and Matt Axell has returned to Mill Road from Wick.

Boss Richard Towers has also welcomed back son, midfielder Dave, who has been out injured for the best part of two seasons.

Apart from the five players who have gone to Littlehampton (see below), every other player from Mullets' squad from last season has re-signed, including the Huckett brothers, Matt, who received interest from Ryman League sides, and Mike.

Striker Scott Tipper has also stayed as have Andy Boxall, Lloyd Walker and Rob Grove, who were on the fringes of the first-team last season.

EAST PRESTON manager Chris White has brought in four new signings so far.

Richard Carter, who scored 20 goals from midfield for Shoreham last season, has joined along with Paul Williams, from Wick, Marc Cooper, who was at Arundel at the start of last season, and Chris Hall, who has previously played for EP.

Kevin Hotston is White's new assistant-manager with James Virgo and Steve Barber the club's coaches.

LITTLEHAMPTON have snapped up five players from local-rivals Arundel.

Simon Clayton, Jim Smith, Lee Barnard, James Bennett and Duncan Barnes have all joined Golds, who will look to bounce back up into Division 1.

Goalkeeper Dean Fuller has signed from West Sussex League Clymping and Littlehampton have also got Dan Jarvis and Gavin Heater from Wick.

RUSTINGTON have brought in three new faces and hope to have a couple more before the start of their first season in senior football.

Blues have welcomed in midfielder Joe Cumber, defender Adam Palmer and striker Sean Davis, who have all returned from travelling.

Last season's top-scorer, Ryan Walton, is the only member of the squad to have left the club.
