COX GETS THE LANCERS JOB

LANCING have replaced the sacked Alf Ford with ex-Mike Oak, then Saltdean United first-team manager Mark Cox '” just days before John Bolingbroke became available after his axe from Steyning Town.

Cox, 40, has this experience in Division 2 and was one of 10 applicants for a Lancing job vacated by Andy Gander and virtually caretaken by Ford last season. Cox comes to Culver Road with former Southwick central defender Nigel Nash as assistant, and brother Steve Nash, a former Lancer.

Cox played a little for Mile Oak and Seaford and after leaving Saltdean and football for domestic reasons, returned to the game as coach at Ifield last term.

He said: "I want to get back into senior football. Lancing are a big club '” they've been in Division 1: they just need stabilising. It's a good job. They've an enthusiastic and realistic committee, and I've managed without a budget wherever I've been so far."
