Craig Cooper sweeps all before him in hot rod championship

CRAIG Cooper, racing number 28, swept all before him to take the 2009 British Junior Hot Rod Championship with wins in both heats and the final at Angmering Raceway on Sunday, March 8.

The talented young driver fought off some determined opposition in both the heats from 33, Liam Wickham and 306, Jack Morgan but once he had powered his Mini into the front position he kept it there, even lapping back markers on his way to victory.

The first two heats were blessed with dry weather, but the final was run under a heavy shower. The change in climate did not phase Cooper who kept his car under control to claim the chequered flag and the trophy with an exemplary drive. Second place went to 33, Liam Wickham with third awarded to 306, Jack Morgan.
