Cricket: Injured Bird can't soar to victory
Littlehampton batted first in their Sussex division three west clash at Pagham but were soon in trouble. Mike Hales (4-88), Richard Bird (2-29) and Pete Cotterill (3-37) reduced them to 95 for nine.
A remarkable recovery followed with last pair A Mohshi and Ryan Budd both getting unbeaten 50s to take the score to 206.
Pagham were in big trouble at 72 for six Wayne Green (65) and Sam Dickens (27) saw them to 143 for seven. Sean Rutter got his top score with a quickfire 43.
Pagham needed seven off the last over to win but Richard Bird, with a broken thumb, was unable to do it.
