Their last pair, Jon Farmer and Marc Duffell, survived 12 balls to hold on for the draw, with No 11 Duffell not having to face a delivery.

Chamberlain took 4-44 and off-spinner Dan Williams 3-36 for EP.

Smith, captain with Andy Reeves still out injured, said: "We were looking to get 240 batting first but 218 was still quite pleasing.

"But, at EP, that's not too difficult to chase down. But Tom bowled a good opening spell, and Dan and Jack Sunderland also bowled well and we got them behind the rate.

"And we then dropped a few catches."
