Cricket wash-out

SATURDAY'S rain meant all five of our local cricket sides had their league games rained off without a ball being bowled.

It was a frustrating day for Sussex League Division 2 leaders Littlehampton, who missed out on the chance to increase their lead at the top. They were due to entertain bottom-club Pulborough, with second-placed Chichester hosting third-placed Stirlands. Each side received 10 points.

In the Invitation League, Arundel still lead the way in Division 2 after their match at third-placed Slinfold was cancelled.

East Preston and Clymping's local derby and Rustington's home match with Southwater were also called off.

The rain ended Clymping 2nd XI's winning start to the season. They had won all seven of their opening matches before Saturday's home match with Broadbridge Heath was cancelled.

However, in 2nd XI Division 1, Broadwater's seven-game losing run came to an end.
