“Promotion is the aim for the 1st XI whilst it will be important for the 2nd XI to finish top of their league with the changes that are to take place in the league structures in 2017 so that they remain part of the SPCL.

“Several players who have been away for a couple of years or so have rejoined with some new players also joining this season. Players to watch this season are Luke Forster & Jack Palser as well as emerging young star Morgan Lapina-Amarelle.

“With two grass cricket squares on site at Ansty, the cricket club provide matches for men’s cricket as well as a very successful ladies XI and good quality matches for colts of all ages and abilities including girls.

“The prospect of a new club building is getting closer and a start is hoped for at the end of the year.

“The 3rd and 4th XI’s play in the Stoner Mid-Sussex League and are captained by Dave Simmonds and Simon Martin respectively. These teams provide senior competitive cricket for older colts and the benefits of this approach shows in the current 1st & 2nd XI’s who are made up from predominately ex colt players. The ladies also play in senior cricket for the men’s team and for one match last season our 3rd XI league side was made up entirely of ladies, the result being a draw.

“New players are always welcome, senior net training on Thursdays, come along and introduce yourself.

“With a lot to look forward to at Ansty, this season promises to be a highly successful one.
