Having won the toss and elected to bat Ansty soon found themselves two down with only 6 on the board. Wickets continued to fall regularly but a stand of 58 between Jethro Menzies and Sam Palser provided some hope. When Menzies fell for a well struck 50 the remaining two wickets fell without bothering the scorers and Ansty were all out for 133.

Three Bridges reply got off to a poor start losing their first wicket on 8. However despite losing two more with the score on 34, the home side eased past the winning score losing just one more wicket. Bradley Gayler (53) and Dan Alderman (46no) were the main scorers.

The 2nd XI hosted Chichester Priory and soon found themselves chasing the ball on a hot afternoon. Despite removing opener Shwetah Singh for a duck without a run on the board the visitors began to pile on the runs. The middle order batting of Ben Woodruff (68) and John Heaven (58) put on 88 for the fifth wicket and were supported by Charlie Futcher with 37. For Ansty James Wilson bowled up the hill for the entire innings taking 6-129 off 23 overs. Will Wright chipped in with two wickets.

The home side’s reply began by losing two wickets for just 3 runs. Chris Barnes (17) and Ed Coombs (23) steadied the ship and with Dan Belfort hitting out the fifth wicket produced 61 runs. Belfort was eventually caught for 58. This setup the possibility of at least getting close to the visitors score. Sophie Cawley batted sensibly scoring 26 before being stumped with the score on 182-6. Will Wright and Matt Pluckrose (29) then set about the bowling with the prospect of overhauling the huge total set by Chichester in mind. Wright was the final wicket being bowled for 59. A greatly improved performance provided some good entertainment for the small crowd.

ANSTY 3rd XI (Stoner League)

The 3rd XI travelled to Balcombe to play Keymer & Hassocks. The fixture venue had been changed due to vandalism at the Hassocks ground.

Having won the toss Keymer & Hassocks lost wickets regularly as a number of bowlers were tried. Megan Janman and Morgan Lapina-Amarelle each took two of the five wickets that fell. Skipper Matt Porter held the innings together being the only batsman in double figures with his 51 not out.

Ansty lost two wickets with the score on 37, that of openers Megan Janman (13 and George Martin (21). Luke Wood came to the crease and with Dan Burt (13no) saw Ansty to another 3rd XI win by 6 wickets Wood finished with 57no. For Keymer & Hassocks James Griffin took 3-38.

ANSTY 4th XI (Stoner League)

Hurstpierpoint came away winners of this local derby winning by 99 runs. Ben Tunley struck a magnificent 131 not out as the home side was put to the sword. Despite a well constructed 55 from Charlie Layton, Ansty could not match the visitors batting and were all out for 154. Kenton Green took 4 wickets and Joe Waller 3 for Hurstpierpoint.
