After posting 248-8 from their 49 overs, as Joel Crook hit 60 and Mark Barry 51, St Andrews finished their reply on 154-7 from 45 overs.

Arundel skipper Bain was left disappointed at the vistors’ tactics in their innings.

He said: “It’s obviously not ideal as we only pick up 17 points, instead of the 30 on offer for a win.

“After they lost Hayden James, they just shut up shop and made no attempt to go for the win.

“It was a shame they chose to do that as it could have been a really good game of cricket.”

The result sees Arundel stay on top of West Sussex Invitation League Division 1 by four points, but second-placed Southwater have a game in hand.

However, Bain is just happy his side are winning games of cricket again and said: “We are just taking it game by game.

“The past couple of seasons in the Sussex League we struggled for results, so it’s nice to get that winning feeling again.

Littlehampton did us a favour by beaing Ram but Southwater won, so that puts pressure on us. It’s just a case of seeing what happens.”
