The New South Wales Under-19s state team star made a big contribution this season by taking 45 wickets at an average of 16.87 which included a best performance of 6-33.

He said: “It’s great to come over here and perform and the main aim is to win the title and I couldn’t think of a better way to round it off than to get back-to-back titles.

“It’s been a great summer. I’ve had a great time here. Hopefully I’ll be back next year if things pan out back home.

“It’s a great bunch of mainly homegrown players, a great set-up down here and lovely people.

“We lost the first match and we thought it was going to be a long season but we turned it around quickly.”

Off-spinner Manenti, 18, said: “The conditions are colder and wetter of a morning but that’s why I came over, I’ve learnt how to adapt to situations.

“I’ve got away from being told what to do and learn by myself.

“My batting has developed more than anything. I bat lower down the order at home so it has been good to play at 4, 5 or 6 on different pitches.

“I got a lot more spin than I would back home but it’s about learning how you can use it to the best of my ability. It’s been really good.”

There will be no rest for Manenti as he leaves Britain this week before playing for Sydney Cricket Club next Saturday when he hopes to return on good form.
