It will be his first full year as skipper after taking over from Johann Brouwer midway through last season.

They pushed on and clinched third spot after a fine end to the campaign and that is something Baker is looking to build on.

He said: “I am looking forward to it, especially after the finish we had last year.

“The second half of the season was phenomenal and hopefully we can push on from there.

“We’ll be aiming for promotion this year.

“I think we can build on that finish with the new players coming in, if not looking to win the league as well.”

“We start with West Chiltington and have lots of close games with them.

“I think locally, Slinfold, ourselves and West Chilt will all be up there.”

Southwater have lost wicketkeeper Liam Hume, who is in Australia for two years, but are set to add three new players.

One is set to be a replacement for Hume, with reserve wicketkeeper Greg Young taking over as second team captain.
