Basement boys Boro now getting desperate

In bowler friendly conditions Boro lost the toss and were stuck in, and largely struggled as they were bowled out for 143 in 48.1 overs. Jono Bennett was the main contributor with a hard-fought 66, while Imran Khan was next best with 25.

Despite the modest total the visitors bowled and fielded well and with Findon 66-4 they were in with a shout. But Bradley Bridson came in at five and his unbeaten 63 took the hosts over the line with around five overs to spare. Bennett also impressed with the ball with four wickets.

“I’ve stopped looking at the table if I’m honest,” Callagan said. “But I know it doesn’t look good, we are desperate for that first win.”

The skipper may want to stop reading at this point, as his side are rock bottom and some 48 points off safety.

Callagan added: “We’ve still got over half the season left to play and you never know, three or four wins and it could all change. But no wins from seven, it’s not looking good. But we’ve not given up just yet.”
