Bexhill relegated from Sussex cricket top flight

BEXHILL finished bottom of the Sussex Cricket Premier League after losing by 51 runs away to East Grinstead.

Needing to win to stand any chance of avoiding relegation, Bexhill’s hopes were raised when they dismissed their opponents for 155.

Josh Beeslee (3-25), Shawn Johnson (2-22) and Ian Ellis (2-28) were among the wickets, while Danny Irvine top-scored with 40.

Bexhill slumped to 36-4 in reply before being skittled out for 104. Skipper Malcolm Johnson (30), Andrew Harriott (22) and Cameron Burgon (20) offered some resistance but the match-winner was Sussex youngster Lewis Hatchett who took 6-46.

Also relegated from the top flight are Eastbourne despite romping to a 92-run victory at home to Roffey on the final day of the season.
