Weather permitting, the Sussex Premier League outfit will travel to Kent Premier League side Hartley Country Club in round one of the ECB National Club Championship.

Bexhill captain Johnathan Haffenden said: “It’s nice to get a win early doors, but a lot of us haven’t had a hit outdoors yet. We’ve netted indoors, but it’s a bit different when you go outdoors.

“As much as we want to win it, we’ve got to look towards the league starting in a couple of weeks and we need to get prepared for that as well. It will be nice for a couple of the boys to have a bat and get our bowlers charged up as well.”

Bexhill will be without Callum Guest, Joe Cox and Josh Beeslee but there may well be a couple of new faces in the side. James Walker, who will bat in the lower middle order, has come over from Eastbourne and young all-rounder Nick Peters has joined from Crowhurst Park.

There will also be an inter-club game involving players from Bexhill’s various adult sides at The Polegrove on Sunday.

Overseas player Dean Crawford is due to fly in from Australia in the middle of next week.
