Blandford takes four wickets as Three Bridges beat Ansty

Matt Blandford put in a fine bowling display to take four wickets and combined with Brad Gayler (53) and Danny Alderman (46 not out) to earn Bridges a six- wicket victory against Ansty.

On a sunny day at the Barker-Meads newly appointed first team captain Tom Blandford looked to get his tenure underway with a win, visitors Ansty won the toss and chose to bat first on a smooth pitch.

Bridges started excellently with opening pair Matt and Ollie Blandford, giving little for the batsman to hit.

Matt Blandford made the breakthrough sending James Whybrow’s off-stump cartwheeling 10 foot back.

Blandford then picked up Young caught behind next delivery by Brad Gayler.

After a quick flurry Matt Blandford then picked up his third wicket with a in-swinging yorker.

He finished off his opening spell picking up Ansty overseas Grove Venter LBW.

Ollie Blandford then joined the party picking up Leo Anderson LBW after setting him up for the in-swinger.

Conor Golding then came into the attack and picked up two quick wickets.

A partnership then built up between Jethro Menzies and Sam Palser.

The two occupied the crease frustrating Bridges until Mike Rose came in and took the last three wickets in one over, leaving Ansty 133 all out. Matt Blandford ending with 4-40, Rose with 3-19.

Bridges batting innings started shaky with Jethro Menzies picking up Golding (4), Joe Ludlow (23) and Cowan (0) with the new ball. This bought Gayler and Alderman together at the crease.

This partnership would seal the deal for Bridges, the pair never looked in doubt and added close to a ton with Gayler reaching 52 before falling plying the reverse sweep.

Alderman ended unbeaten on 46 and youngster James Russell ending unbeaten on 2 to see Bridges home with six wickets to spare.

Man of the Match was Matt Blandford for his 4-40,

Keeper Gayler said: “Matt bowled the quickest I’ve ever seen him, potentially hitting 85 mph.”

Bridges claimed the full 30 points as the team try to climb up the table.
