Bexhill are reporting on social media site Twitter that Chris Jordan will be part of the Sussex Development XI side which is heading for The Polegrove. The Sussex Premier League fixture will get under way at 12.30pm.

Jordan, a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast medium bowler, has played in eight Tests, 24 One Day Internationals and seven T20 Internationals for England.

The Barbados-born 26-year-old featured in England’s ODI series against New Zealand earlier in the summer and was part of the team which toured the West Indies in the spring where he pulled off some memorable slip catches.

Not withstanding the anticipated presence of Jordan, the visit of the Sussex Development XI is a huge game for a Bexhill side enjoying an excellent season in the Sussex Premier League.

Bexhill lie fourth at present and a victory today would probably be enough to move them up to second, which would be a remarkable feat for a young side which only won promotion from Division Two back in 2013.

Johnathan Haffenden’s team continued its fine form with a seven-wicket victory at home to bottom club Middleton yesterday, completing the double over the West Sussex outfit in the process.

Bexhill bowled Middleton out for 175 with Shawn Johnson taking 4-39 from 11.4 overs, fellow new ball bowler Dean Crawford 2-37 off 16 and Josh Beeslee 2-39 from 11. There was also a wicket each for Joe Cox and Ashar Zaidi, whose 10 overs went for just 20 runs.

Malcolm Johnson was the cornerstone of the run chase with an unbeaten 77 featuring 10 fours. Zaidi hit 41 off just 33 balls, Shawn Johnson made 28 and Cameron Burgon was 19 not out at the end.
