The 23-year-old spinner was part of a 15-strong England Physical Disability squad in Dubai last month for a six-match Twenty20 and One Day International series with Pakistan.

And, although Bridges and England put up a strong fight at the ICC Global Cricket Academy, they ultimately left with a sour taste in their mouths as they lost both series 2-1.

Despite losing 4-2 overall, it was still an improvement on their maiden tour to Dubai to play Pakistan in 2012 when England’s squad, which included Bridges, arrived home having suffered a 4-1 defeat.

However this was of little consolation to Bridges who insists he and his teammates should have had more to show for their efforts in the United Arab Emirates.

Bridges said: “Being out in Dubai this time around was a great experience, obviously results didn’t go our way but we still bonded really well together as a team.”

“We just need to be more clinical in our execution and be a bit smarter and show a bit more composure when we’re under pressure.

“At big times in games, when we were in with a shout, we came up short and handed momentum to them and were just found wanting at key moments.

“But we are a young side still and we have lots of improvements to make and we are confident of doing that, the new guys who came into the squad this time have all impressed.

“We need to learn as much as we can from this tour and move forward and ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

But looking forward he added: “I am confident we can continue to improve and we have what it takes to beat them, it will just take a bit of time.”
