With Burgess Hill winning the toss and electing to bat it was Saint’s that drew first blood with Hayden James dispatching Hill’s Captain Tom Trowbridge and Kirk Proto (30) back to the pavilion without scoring. Nathan Cooper was joined at the crease by Karl Boffey who was dropped early in his inning posted the first century (102) Hill settled and with Tom Mackenzie not out with 50 Burgess Hill posted a testing score of 241 for the loss of 7 wickets from their 40 over’s.

Hayden James the pick of Saint’s bowlers with 3 for 57.

Saint’s innings stuttered as Iain Murray was run out without scoring, Adam Chilcott (6) and Nick Elkins (25) left Saint’s at 46 for 3. Hayden James was joined by new boy James Hayden-Smith (this will confuse many a scorer this season!) and they gradually brought saint’s back into the picture with a 91 run partnership before Hayden (67) and Paul Brindle were out LBW in consecutive balls.

James Hayden-Smith began finding his touch finishing with 73 not out and supported by Liam Hodgson (32 not out) saw Saint’s finish with 230 for 7 off their 40 overs and Burgess Hill gaining victory by 11 runs and a reasonable run out for both sides.
