“We’re going to be a stronger side than last year if we can get our batting to fire.

“Other years we have been a couple of players light until the boarding schools and universities break-up.

“Our overseas all-rounder Ben Speake from Hamilton, New Zealand should be a great signing, Tim Moses has a big part to play, Hisam Ul-Haq is a very exciting player.

“Conor Golding and Brad Gayler are both a year older now at 18 and could be key players.”

Alderman excused his team for losing to East Grinstead by 51 runs in the Sussex T20 Cup.

He said: “We were a bit rusty with our batting. I can’t complain too much as we hadn’t played any matches and our bowling had economic spells.”

Moses took 1-18 and Mike Rose 1-15 while Richard Webber hit 25* and Gayler made 19.

East Grinstead posted a total of 118-6 before Bridges replied with just 67 all out.

Bridges are at home to Cuckfield in their first league match this Saturday, starting at 12.30pm.
