Cricketers bowled over by new nets

Rye Mayor Cllr John Breeds revealed a plaque commemorating the opening before a gathering of distinguished guests from all the funding organisations.

Also present were nearly 50 colts from Rye CC’s youth programme with their parents, along with former England bowler Neale Radford, whose company, Radford EzyNet, installed the facility.

Club secretary Martin Blincow proposed a vote of thanks to all the organisations, and stated the aim of Rye CC was to promote the participation and enjoyment of cricket.

Guests, members and friends of Rye CC were then treated to a drinks reception where there was much discussion about the next fundraising project, that of purchasing a bowling machine.

Pledges have already begun to be offered and the club is hopeful that the target of £2,000 can be reached this summer. Contact Blincow on (01797) 224999.
