Cuckfield U13 Girls win Lady Taverners tournament

Cuckfield U13 Girls claimed the 2015 U13 Lady Taverners title at Brighton Aldridge Academy on Sunday with victories over St Peters CC and Chippingdale CC.

In the first game against St Peters, Cuckfield bowled first and restricted their opponents to 72 thanks to some excellent bowling from Miranda Pierpoint and Amelie Palmer-Brown, backed up by some superb fielding from sisters Hannah and Jodie Johanson. In reply, Cuckfield lost early wickets but an aggressive knock from captain Adeline Preston along with a useful contribution from Harriet Loveridge saw the girls over the winning line in the final over.

Against Chippingdale, Cuckfield again won the toss and chose to bowl and turned in an excellent fielding display with good contributions from all, especially Holly Aylett behind the stumps. Chipps totalled 78 from their 12 overs and set the Cuckfield batters a challenging target- however, the top three made light work of this total with Miranda Pierpoint retiring and Adeline Preston and Jodie Johanson knocking off the remainder of the runs with time to spare.

The girls now progress to the Regional Finals next month.
