Dwayne Smith back at Hove for Friends Life t20

Sussex County Cricket Club are delighted to announce the return of West Indian International Dwayne Smith to The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground as their overseas player for the 2013 Friends Life t20 tournament.

30 year-old Smith, who represented the County in all three formats of the game for Sussex between 2008 and 2010, will join Scott Styris as the Sharks’ overseas player for this year’s campaign.

He was part of the side that won the Pro40 League in 2008, before helping Sussex do the one-day double in 2009, winning both the Pro40 League again and the Twenty20 Cup. His 59 runs from only 26 balls in the final against Somerset at Edgbaston set the Sharks on their way to victory that night.

The hard-hitting batsman, who also bowls right-arm medium is a vastly experienced T20 player, and is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

Smith said of his return to Hove, “I’m very happy to be joining Sussex again. I can’t wait to get back to my second home and the lovely crowd at Hove.”

Sussex’s Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson said, “Dwayne has the ability to win games by himself with the bat, he is a more than useful bowler and he is one of the best fielders ever to have been seen at Hove.

“He is immensely popular with the players, the members and the sponsors and everybody is excited about his return.”
