Worthing posted 188-7 in 53 overs after being put into bat and they had Findon struggling on 90-6 in their reply.

However, an unbroken 99-run stand between Glen Bridson, with 62 not out, and Graham Manser, who finished unbeaten on 34, took Findon to victory.

Findon skipper Bradley Bridson felt the victory was his side’s best of the season so far and said: “To win against local rivals is always good.

“There was a little bit of needle out on the pitch, so it made it that bit sweeter to get the win.

“After being 90 for six, it was a great effort to get the victory.

“We managed five league wins all year last time out and this time around we have the same amount in just seven matches. We just want to keep going well now.”

Benn Challen starred with the bat for Worthing as he made 62.

Nick Oxley hit 20 and Andy Reid ended not out on 29 from just 31 balls to help his side reach 188-7.

Curtis Howell took four for 55 from 14 overs and James Iago took three for 55 off 22 overs.

Worthing made a great start with the ball as Bradley Bridson fell third ball to leave Findon 0-1.

Harry Metters (11) and Iago (nought) fell in quick succession to leave the hosts 26-3.

Howell then fell for 22, Alex Nielsen for 37, from just 21 balls, and Jack Woods was out for five as Findon were reduced to 90-6.

However, Glen Bridson finished 62 not out, from 82 balls, and Manser struck an unbeaten 34 off 80 deliveries to take Findon to victory in 46 overs.

Martyn Swift took three for 44 from ten overs for Worthing.

Worthing skipper John Glover was disappointed with the defeat and said: “It’s never nice to lose a game.

“We felt we had enough runs on the board at the halfway stage.

“Once we had them 90 for six in reply, I thought we would go on to win. But full credit must go to Glen for the way he played and he guided his team to victory.

“We really went for it when we had them in trouble but it just was not to be.

“So far this season we have responded well to defeats and we need to do the same on Saturday.”
